Tobias Rubio

Tobias Rubio came through Racing Club's academy from the age of 11, joining as a central midfielder before shifting to right-back once he reached the club's youth ninth division. He made his professional debut against Rosario Central, a match that ended 1-1, and settled into squad rotation across cup and continental fixtures over the following seasons rather than becoming a fixture in the league side.

His clearest mark on the club's history came in 2024, when Racing lifted the Copa Sudamericana with Rubio part of the squad. That success came alongside limited league minutes, with most of his appearances that year concentrated in cup competitions.

In September 2024, Racing sent him out on loan to Defensa y Justicia, a free transfer that gave the receiving club an option to buy half of his rights for 700,000 dollars. The loan ran through the end of 2025, and Rubio returned to Racing Club in January 2026, contracted at the club until December 2027.

A right-footed centre-back capable of playing at right-back, Rubio's path has been shaped more by patience within Racing's structure than by a single defining moment on the pitch — years in the academy, a debut, a title won largely from the fringes, and a loan spell used to accumulate first-team minutes elsewhere before coming home.
