Vladimir Screciu

Screciu was 16 when he made his Liga I debut for Universitatea Craiova in the 2016/17 season, having come up through the club's own academy. Genk signed him in the summer of 2018 for a fee of around €2 million, but a torn ligament and a broken ankle, together with competition for his position, kept him out of Genk's first team. In January 2020 he was loaned to Lommel in Belgium's second tier to get more playing time; he made two appearances there before the loan ended that summer.

Screciu returned to Universitatea Craiova as a free agent in July 2020 and signed a contract through 2027. Since then he has become established in the side, passing 226 appearances across the league, the Romanian Cup, the Super Cup and European competitions, with four goals. He was part of the Craiova squad that won the Cupa României in 2017/18, before he left for Belgium, and again in 2020/21 after his return, beating Astra Giurgiu in the final. In 2021 he added the Supercupa României, when Craiova held their nerve in a penalty shoot-out against CFR Cluj.

He made his senior international debut for Romania in June 2023, in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Switzerland, and has since won several more caps without yet scoring for the national team.
