About the player
William Tesillo learned the game at the Boca Juniors de Cali academy before starting his senior career in earnest at Centauros Villavicencio in 2009. A five-year spell at Deportes Quindío followed, interrupted by a loan at Junior, where he lifted the Copa Colombia in 2015.
In 2018 he left Colombia for Mexico, joining Club León through Grupo Pachuca's network. Over six seasons at León, Tesillo collected a Liga MX title in the Guardianes 2020 tournament, a Leagues Cup in 2021 and the CONCACAF Champions League in 2023, and was named to the Liga MX Best XI twice, in Guardianes 2020 and Apertura 2021, alongside a Liga MX All-Star selection.
He has made 30 appearances for the Colombia national team. His only international goal came against Panama on 3 June 2019. He was part of Colombia's squad at the 2016 Olympics, featuring in four matches, and played at the 2019 Copa América before helping the side to a bronze medal at the 2021 edition.
Tesillo returned to Colombian football in 2024 as a free agent, joining Atlético Nacional. He won the Liga Colombia title in the 2024-2 tournament and has since added the Copa Colombia in both 2024 and 2025.
