They took the regular-season title in 2025 and with it the first Supporters' Shield the competition has awarded, before the Diana B. Matheson Cup final went the other way — a 1:2 loss to Vancouver Rise closed out the season one game short of a clean sweep.

The club exists because the league does: AFC Toronto was set up on 26 April 2023 as one of six founding members of the NSL, Canada's first professional women's football competition, which kicked off on 16 April 2025. Home games split between two grounds. York Lions Stadium, holding 4,000, is where the regular fixtures are played; BMO Field, with its permanent capacity of 28,351, is kept for the bigger occasions — the season openers and the 2025 final among them.

The team plays in maroon and vermilion, and match days carry a mascot rather than a nickname — Milie the Canada Goose. Behind the goal stands the club's supporters' group, the Vermilion Vanguard, present since the league's first kickoff.

No individual figure yet stands out from the record the way a long-serving captain or a club-record scorer would elsewhere.
