Ängelholms FF

In 2011, third in Superettan, Ängelholms FF reached the play-off for a place in Allsvenskan — the closest the club has come to senior football. The tie was decided five minutes into stoppage time, when defender David Bennage turned the ball into his own net and the chance was gone. Sebastian Andersson, later capped for Sweden, played through that campaign, 2010 and 2011, before moving on.

Ängelholms FF is younger than either of the clubs that made it: formed in 1976, when Ängelholms IF, founded in 1905, merged with Skörpinge GIF, founded in 1950. Home matches are played at Ängelholms IP, known locally as Änglavallen, capacity 5,000. The yellow shirts have never won anything above the third tier — Division 2 titles in 2007 and 2021 — and the club's best Superettan finish remains fifth, in 2008; the following year, Mattias Adelstam top-scored the division with 19 goals.

Five years after that near-miss in the play-off, ÄFF came far closer to disappearing altogether. The club filed for bankruptcy on 22 December 2016; only investment from the firm Fastcom kept it off the winding-up list, and liquidation was avoided on 17 January 2017.

Daniel Johansson stayed through all of it. Thirteen seasons in the shirt earned him the one honour the club hands out itself: the number 12 has not been issued since.
