Valentín Castellanos is a forward who wore the club's sky-blue and black before his career carried him well past Uruguay.

The club was founded in 2007 in Montevideo as Club Atlético Torque. In January 2020 it took its current name, becoming part of the City Football Group.

Torque's home now is Estadio Charrúa, which holds 14,000. For a stretch of its history the club played its matches at the Centenario, seating 60,235.

Its honours sit almost entirely in Uruguay's lower divisions: champions of the Tercera División in 2011-12, champions of the Segunda División Profesional in 2017 and again in 2019, and winners of the Torneo Competencia in 2024.

That 2024 title is the most recent line on the record, and it keeps Torque in the picture in the second division.
