Ballyclare Comrades

The club itself began as a gathering of returning soldiers: in February 1919, veterans of 'C' Company of the 12th Royal Irish Rifles formed the Comrades.

Senior status came in 1990, when Ballyclare also adopted the crest they still wear, and it lasted until 2003, when league restructuring pushed them back to the intermediate game. A second demotion followed, down to the third tier in 2011–12, but they answered it within a year, returning to Championship 1 the following season.

The single senior trophy, the Ulster Cup, was won in 1997–98. Paddy McNair, capped by Northern Ireland, came through the Ballyclare Colts youth system that feeds the club, while Gareth McAuley spent the 1999–2000 season on loan from Linfield.

Dixon Park now holds 2,398, with 538 of those seated, and work is under way to lay a 3G pitch there.
