Dergview

Ivan Sproule had chased balls down the wing at Easter Road and Ashton Gate, capped for Northern Ireland, before he came home to Castlederg and took charge of the club as player-manager.

Dergview came together in the town in 1980, and for most of its life it played the intermediate football of County Tyrone rather than anything closer to the top of the Irish game. The breakthrough came slowly: the Fermanagh & Western Intermediate Cup in 2010, then the step up that carried the club, known locally as The Constitution, into the Championship. It held that place until 2024, when a play-off defeat to Armagh City sent it back down to the Premier Intermediate League.

The best run came either side of that spell in the second tier: the North West Senior Cup won in successive seasons, 2020–21 and 2021–22. In the Irish Cup, the national competition open to every side in Northern Ireland, Dergview reached the quarter-finals in 2020–21. Emmet Friars, a former Northern Ireland Under-21 international, took over as manager in 2023.

Castlederg sits close to the border with County Donegal, and Dergview's derbies carry that geography: Coagh United across Tyrone, Strabane Athletic just up the road, the closer of the two known simply as the West Tyrone derby. Darragh Park holds 1,200.
