Banants II

The team began in 2002 under a different name and a different parent. It was set up as Spartak-2 Yerevan, the farm side of Spartak Yerevan, and it stayed that until 2004, when Banants and Spartak merged and the reserves were renamed along with everything else. A second renaming followed in 2019, when the senior club became Urartu and the reserve team took the name too.

The clearest result came in 2016–17, when the side finished top of the First League on 55 points and stayed exactly where it was. Reserve teams cannot be promoted, so the title was the whole of the reward — a season's work recorded and then filed away.

Edgar Grigoryan came through the academy here before playing for the Armenia national team.

Home is the Urartu Stadium, also known as the Banants Sports Complex, with room for 4,860. White and blue on the pitch — the colours that gave the team its nickname, and the ones the parent club, in yellow, has never worn.
