Basket Napoli

In 2024 Basket Napoli beat EA7 Emporio Armani Milano to win the Coppa Italia. The winner was a club that had entered Serie B only eight years earlier. It was the third cup the current club had won.

The Milan final also settled a question of ownership. The 2006 Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana final of that year belong to the old S.S. Basket Napoli, founded in 1946 and dissolved in 2009. The present company is legally a new entity and does not claim them. It is the de facto successor, and the city treats it as such.

The colours, azure and white, are those of the football club SSC Napoli. In the Italian press the basketball side is usually called Partenope, after the ancient name of the city. For a spell the name on the shirts was Guerri Napoli, after a sponsor. Home games are played at PalaBarbuto, which seats 3,890, and the nearest rivalries are with Scafati Basket and Juvecaserta, matches routinely billed as regional derbies.

In 2025 ownership passed to Matt Rizzetta, with Shaquille O'Neal reported as a minority partner.

The story began in 2016, when the entrepreneur Ciro Ruggiero bought the sports title of Cilento Basket Agropoli and registered the team as Cuore Napoli Basket. The purchase gave him a place in Serie B and a city that had been without a top basketball team since 2009.
