Bayside Argonauts

Every promotion at Bayside Argonauts has come the same way. The record reads like a ladder — Division 3 East in 1990 and 1991, Division 2 South East three years running from 1995 to 1997, then Division 1 Morning in 1998 and the Premier League Afternoon title the year after. Two seasons, two rungs.

The club did not start life under its current name. It was formed in 1984 in Cheltenham, a bayside suburb of Melbourne, as Laminex Soccer Club, with Stefanos Mavridis as its first president. The Argonauts name arrived in 1995, incorporation followed in 2003, and by 2007 the club had settled on Bayside Argonauts Football Club.

After the 1999 title, the climb stalled for close to two decades before State 4 South was won in 2017 and, more significantly, State League 2 South-East in 2024. The same year, the women's team finished runner-up in State 1, close enough to promotion themselves to suggest the club's next job is holding the level it has just reached rather than chasing another jump straight away.
