Box Hill

Football in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne had to be built from scratch, and the men who put the Box Hill Soccer Club together in 1922 spent the first decade climbing through the numbered divisions of Victorian football: fourth division in 1925, third the year after. It took until 1931 for the second division title to arrive, and until 1948 for the club to win the Victorian State League, which was then the top of the game in the state.

The present name and badge date from December 2010 and a merger with Southern Suburbs, which had begun life as Murrumbeena Pythagoras. The nickname came across with it, which is why a suburban club in Box Hill is known as Pythagoras.

The trophies of the past thirty years belong mostly to the women. Nine Victorian Women's Premier League titles between 2001 and 2012, and in that last season the side took the minor premiership, the cup and the grand final without losing a match. Melissa Barbieri, who captained Australia and played at four World Cups, turned out for the club during that year and returned as an assistant coach in 2016.

Wembley Park on Canterbury Road holds 5,000, though only 250 of them are seated. The men were beaten in the 2024 Victorian Premier League 2 final by Goulburn Valley Suns.
