Moreland City

Ask around Coburg who Moreland City's rivals are and you get a shrug towards the rest of the northern suburbs rather than a single fixture. There is no named derby.

The current side was assembled in 1990, when Moreland Park Rangers joined with Coburg FC. Moreland Park Rangers had themselves come together five years earlier, out of Moreland FC and Park Rangers. The club dates itself to 1916, and carries the arithmetic on its own literature: "Est 1916, Incorporating Coburg, Moreland & Park Rangers".

Most of the silverware belongs to the oldest of those parts. Moreland FC took the Victorian Division 1 title in 1936 and again in 1937, then came back for a third after the war, in 1946.

Then a long gap. The State League Division 1 North West title in 2014 started the climb back, and the NPL Victoria 2 championship in 2022 was the high point of it.

Campbell Reserve holds around 2,500, with CB Smith Reserve in Fawkner taking matches as well. Among those who have passed through, Apai Ukuno won caps for South Sudan while on the books here — the club has no academy feeding the A-League, and tends to attract players with a career already behind them.

The Zebras nickname belongs to Moreland Zebras, a separate club entirely.
