North Sixth Group took a United Soccer League franchise on 8 June 2023, and the first blueprint had the team starting in 2025 in USL League One, the third tier, with a route up to the second tier by 2028. By March 2024 that had been torn up: the men would go straight into the USL Championship for 2025. Then, in December 2024, the debut slid again, to 2026. Timothy Weah joined the investor group on 28 May 2024.

Their side entered the USL Super League in 2024 and finished sixth in 2024–25 — 39 points from 28 matches, ten wins, nine draws, nine defeats — outside the top four and so outside the play-offs.

The colours are navy, sky blue, white, limestone and brown — the limestone for the Brooklyn Bridge, the brown for the borough's brownstones.
