Buffalo Women measure themselves against Erie Commodores. The fixture is known as the Erie County Derby, and one of the sharper results in the club's short history came on the road there, a 3-1 win built on goals from three different players. Pittsburgh Riveters, Steel City Women, Flower City 1872 and Cleveland Force Women fill out the rest of the schedule without carrying the same weight.
The side took shape in 2021 as the women's branch of FC Buffalo, whose men's team had already been playing since 2009 under owner Nick Mendola. Nikki Bartholomew took the first head coaching job. Across four seasons in United Women's Soccer, the club took a division or conference title every year through 2024, then moved up to USL W League in 2025, a step that has not yet brought a trophy with it.
Blue, gold and white make up the colours, a palette borrowed from the Buffalo Sabres across town. Kelsey Araujo, capped by Portugal's national team, and Vania Hudson, currently out on loan at Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League, both came through a club its supporters call the Blitzers.
Home games are played at Coyer Field, on the Buffalo State University campus, in front of a ground that holds 3,000.
