«Riveters»
They picked the name by public vote in September 2024, months before a ball was kicked. There was no earlier Riveters to inherit from: the city's other entry in that alphabet, the Pittsburgh Fire, folded with the WUSA in 2003.
The club belongs to Jeff Garner, who also owns the Riverhounds, and it plays at F.N.B. Stadium in Station Square. Black and gold carry over from the city's other teams; a third colour, red, shows up only in the badge, which fans voted the best new crest in the USL W League for 2025.
That debut season went further than a first campaign usually does. Under Scott Gibson, the Riveters won the Great Forest Division with six wins from eleven games, then went on to the playoffs as one of sixteen qualifiers nationwide.
Abi Hugh carried the division that year, named its Player of the Year in a shirt the club had only just designed. Tanum Nelson did the scoring, six goals in a team playing its first competitive minutes anywhere. Between them they gave a club a season worth remembering before it had one worth forgetting.
