Flower City 1872

Susan B. Anthony, a Rochester native, walked into a polling station in the 1872 presidential election and cast a vote no woman was legally allowed to cast — a deliberate act of protest for women's suffrage. More than a century later, Rochester's women's football club borrowed that year for its name, pairing it with Flower City, the city's historic nickname.
Flower City 1872 was presented to the public over two days in late March 2023, launched as the women's side of Flower City Union. It played its first two seasons in the league then known as United Women's Soccer, finishing 14th in 2023 and ninth in the Eastern Conference in 2024, before the competition was rebranded the USL W League, where the club made its debut in 2025.
Home matches are played at Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium, which holds 13,768. The team wears lilac and black.
No trophy has followed either move. Utah United took the USL W League title the year Flower City 1872 arrived in the league, and Salmon Bay FC took it the year after — the standard the club is still chasing.
