The fixture Bytom basketball supporters mark on the calendar is against KKS Tarnowskie Góry.

Polonia Bytom fielded a basketball side from the 1960s, reaching the top-flight I Liga by 1980/81 under coach Jerzy Kapuściński, with Jacek Rosa and Sławomir Jezior among the squad that season. In 1981 the section folded for financial reasons, and its players moved across town to HKS Stal Bobrek, later known as Bobry Bytom.

Basketball returned to Polonia in 2013, and the club counts its existence from that year rather than from the 1960s. It has climbed the Polish league pyramid since, winning promotion to the second-tier I Liga through II Liga playoffs in 2022 and again in 2024. No league title or cup sits in its history yet, in contrast to the football section, which won the Polish championship twice in the 1950s and 1960s.

Home games are played at Hala "Na Skarpie" in the Szombierki district, a ground that holds 996 spectators. The team wears blue and red and is known as the Niebiesko-Czerwoni, colours carried over from the same crest used by Polonia's other sections, since basketball has never had a badge of its own.

What is left of the old I Liga era is mostly names — Ryszard Stankiewicz, Bogusław Bańka, Kazimierz Boboń among them — attached to a season that ended not with relegation but with the section disappearing altogether.
