Ilmar de Almeida, the long-time coach, is also an evangelical pastor. The stated aim is to use sport to steer boys away from crime and drugs.
In 2015 the under-17s won the Campeonato Carioca Sub-17. In 2021 they took the Campeonato Carioca Série C Sub-17, the first edition of that youth division. The senior side has won no state title.
The senior team plays in the Campeonato Carioca Série C, the fifth tier of state football, in white shirts and black shorts. Its closest approach to something bigger came in 2023, when it reached the semi-finals and was eliminated by Zinzane FC. The club has moved between grounds. It used to play at the Estádio Leônidas da Silva in Bonsucesso, and its 2025 matches were at the Estádio Joaquim de Almeida Flores in Nilópolis.
In the lower divisions, its rivals are Campo Grande Atlético Clube and Santa Cruz Futebol Clube, both from Rio de Janeiro. Santa Cruz is the one described as a direct rival.
