Chile U19

The squad is drawn together for each cycle by the Football Federation of Chile rather than run as a standing club, training at the Complejo Juan Pinto Durán in Santiago before scattering back to their domestic sides between tournaments.

The nickname La Rojita marks the team out as the junior version of La Roja, the senior side, and the shirt follows the same red-blue-white scheme. The federation itself dates to 19 June 1895, among the oldest in South American football, though that history belongs to the game in Chile broadly rather than to this age group specifically.

Third place at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada remains the high-water mark. They had managed fourth as hosts twenty years earlier, in 1987, but the three South American U-20 Championships from 2015 to 2019 all ended the same way: out in the group stage, ninth overall each time, including on home soil in 2019 under captain Marcelo Allende. Fixtures against Argentina carry weight without a settled name attached at this level, while matches against Peru are still billed as the Clásico del Pacífico even among the juniors.
