Ebk Women

The best-known people at EBK are the women who won the Finnish Cup in 1995. It stands as the club's biggest competitive success.

Three decades later the team plays in Kansallinen Ykkönen, the second tier, one division below the national top flight.

Esbo Bollklubb goes back to 1940, so the women's side plays under a name that predates it by a long way, in Espoo. Blue and white, and the shorthand everyone uses is simply EBK.

Home matches are at the Keski-Espoo sports park, a municipal ground with room for 3,320 — the kind of capacity that says what sort of football this is. No tiers to fill, no ticketing operation, a running track's worth of space between the stand and the pitch and a crowd that fits into one side of it. A cup run brings in more people than the ground usually sees; the rest of the season it holds what it needs to.

What the club has, it has kept for a long time: the same city, the same colours, the same ground. And a single trophy that belongs to a group of players who won it before most of the current squad was born.
