The run to the 2025 USL Super League final took Fort Lauderdale United through Carolina Ascent FC, beaten 2-1 after extra time in the semi-final.
United had existed for barely eighteen months by then. The club was founded on 21 November 2023, built as the region's first professional women's soccer side, and took its colours, ocean blue and seafoam green, from the beaches the city is named for. Home matches are played at Beyond Bancard Field, on the campus of Nova Southeastern University.
The squad that reached the final carried a mix of national-team experience: Canada's Julia Grosso, the United States' Allie Long, Australians Sophie Harding and Madison McComasky, and Stella Nyamekye, on loan from Gotham FC and capped for Ghana. Kiara Locklear finished the 2025/26 season as the club's top scorer with six goals. Alissa "Ali" Rogers took over as head coach in September 2025.
A second team plays in UPSL Women, but the senior side has yet to turn a final appearance into a trophy.
