Brooklyn Women

The USL Super League handed Brooklyn FC Women their opening fixture at Maimonides Park on 31 August 2024, against Carolina Ascent FC — a first competitive match for the club. Jessica Garziano scored the goal that opened the club's history that day, and by September she had been named the league's player of the month.

No separate nickname has taken hold — supporters and the club itself still call it Brooklyn FC Women.

Owner Matt Rizetta has spoken of a purpose-built stadium for 10,000 to 15,000 fans after 2027, but for now the club plays as a tenant on a long-term lease.

The inaugural campaign ended with a sixth-place finish. Jessica Silva, who had coached Canada's women's side and Metz before taking the Brooklyn job, left the post in April 2025; her successor Thomas Tengarrinha lasted one more season before Alex Smith, formerly of Brisbane Roar, was brought in for 2026/27. Neither of Silva's or Tengarrinha's seasons brought a trophy — Lexington SC took both the championship and the Players' Shield in 2025/26, though forward Rebecca Cook, capped by Ireland, top-scored for Brooklyn with nine goals that year, and captain Samantha Rosette retired at season's end.

There is no derby to speak of.
