DK Power Women secured a comfortable 4-1 victory over Brooklyn Women in the Group Stage of the USL Super League on Thursday evening. The result leaves the visitors third in the table with six points after three games, while the hosts remain winless at the bottom.
Brooklyn struck first through E. Jaskaniec in the sixth minute, but L. Abera replied for DK Power just two minutes later. The visitors took control after the break when T. Lussi converted a penalty in the 61st minute. J. Thompson pulled one back for the hosts in the 75th minute, but Abera restored the two-goal cushion with another spot-kick in the 83rd.
T. King picked up a yellow card for Brooklyn in the 35th minute, and both sides made several changes in the second half. The hosts brought on L. Booker and T. Thomason at the restart, while DK Power introduced E. Loving, E. Jaskaniec, K. Colbert, S. Lowenberg, A. Miller, A. Boyan, J. Garziano and S. Cummings across the final 40 minutes.
Brooklyn's campaign has been difficult so far. They have lost all three matches, including a 3-0 defeat to Lexington Women on 15 August and a 4-0 loss to Spokane Zefer Women in May. DK Power, meanwhile, have won twice and lost once, with their only setback a 1-0 defeat to Carolina Ascent Women on their most recent outing.
The result widens the gap between the two sides. DK Power sit third with six points, while Brooklyn remain on zero points at eighth place. The hosts will need to find a way to turn things around if they hope to stay in contention.
