Galvez Esporte Clube was formed on 3 July 2011 by military police officers, and the connection has never been hidden: locals still call it "Time da Polícia Militar," the Military Police team, and the nickname stuck alongside the one the club prefers, Imperador.

The colours, green, yellow and red, are lifted straight from the Acre state flag, and the club has built its identity around representing the state rather than just the city. That showed most clearly in 2020, when Galvez won the Campeonato Acriano by taking both the first and second turns of the competition outright, avoiding the need for a final altogether. Daniego shared the tournament's top scorer standings that year with nine goals.

Where the club has been more consistent is in developing its own players. The youth setup is regarded as the strongest in Acre, and between 2015 and 2019 it collected 13 titles across 21 official competitions. That production line sent the under-20s to the third phase of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in 2019, a rare deep run for a club from the far west of the country, and it has kept winning at home since.

Matches against Rio Branco Football Club and Independência still carry the city's derby weight, played out at the Estádio Antônio Aquino Lopes, known locally as Florestão. For now, it is the academy graduates carrying Galvez's momentum into the next Campeonato Acriano.
