Gimnástica Segoviana

Segovia has never had a top-flight side, and the closest Gimnástica Segoviana came to one of Castile and León's big clubs was a Copa de Castilla y León last-16 tie in 1985, lost 1:3 to Real Valladolid.

The club was formally constituted on 28 June 1928. In 2006 a new sports law in Castile and León closed the abbreviation "SD" to fresh registrations, and Sociedad Deportiva Gimnástica Segoviana became Gimnástica Segoviana Club de Fútbol. In March 2026 it converted to a Sociedad Anónima Deportiva. The blue and garnet stripes have outlasted both changes, worn since 1934 with one interruption in 1983–84.

Four Tercera División group titles — 2003/04, 2005/06, 2016/17 and 2020/21 — describe a club that kept climbing back rather than one that stayed up. The 2023/24 Segunda Federación group title was the first of a different order, taking Gimnástica into the promotion play-offs at the level above.

Its best run in the Copa del Rey came in 2017/18, when it reached the last 16. Cup football has its own rules, and for a club of this size that draw is the one supporters still date things by.

The name most often attached to the club belongs to someone who arrived at the end rather than the beginning. Quique Estebaranz, brought up at Atlético Madrid and later at Barcelona, Sevilla and Tenerife, and once called up by Spain, finished his professional career at La Albuera in 2000, aged 35.
