Ibiza

The island has two clubs that matter to each other, and the smaller one was there first. When UD Ibiza meet SD Ibiza Islas Pitiusas, the fixture is the Derbi ibicenco, a town argument played out on a municipal pitch.

A group of businessmen led by Amadeo Salvo, who had run Valencia, set up the club on 31 July 2015 and then bought back a past: UD Ibiza-Eivissa had folded in 2010, and article 100 of the RFEF regulations allowed the name and record of a dissolved club to be taken on five years later, provided its debts were cleared. Salvo paid off what the old club owed the federation and started with a history already attached.

Promotion to the Segunda in 2021, under Juan Carlos Carcedo, took the club as high as it has gone. Two seasons followed in the second division, and the ground had to stretch to hold them — Can Misses is licensed for 6,000, and temporary stands lifted that to 6,500 while the club needed them. They came down after relegation in 2023, and the stadium now takes around 4,500. The club plays in Primera Federación, with Miguel Álvarez in charge this season.

The best-known name to pull on the sky-blue shirt arrived after the fall from the Segunda. Nolito, who had played for Sevilla and Manchester City, spent 2022 to 2024 on the island — a Spain forward finishing out in the third tier, on a ground where the stands had just been taken away.
