Inter Turku

Inter Turku go into this season on the back of a habit they have built with the Liigacup, winning it in 2024, retaining it in 2025 and lifting it again in 2026. The Veikkausliiga title has proved harder to repeat: the club's only championship dates to 2008, and since then Inter have finished runner-up five times, most recently in 2025, closer to the top than most but never quite over the line again.

The club started out in 1990 as a youth set-up in Turku before growing into the senior side that takes the field today. The Blue and Blacks is the name that has stuck with supporters, the shirt split between blue, black and a touch of red. A second nickname, the Tugs, comes from Alfons Håkans, the tugboat company that has sponsored the club.

Home matches are played at Veritas Stadion, known as Kupittaa Football Stadium until 2003 and holding just over 9,000. Alongside the 2008 league title, the cabinet holds two Suomen Cup wins, in 2009 and 2018, against five further final defeats.

Across the city sits Turun Palloseura, and games between the two make up the Turku derby, the fixture that carries more weight than league position on the day.
