The Kuwait Entertainment City Cricket Ground shares the site with a 25,000-capacity Sports and Festival Arena; the national side splits its home fixtures between this ground and the Sulaibiya Cricket Ground, also in the capital.

The team first took the field on 30 October 1979, against Bahrain in Kuwait City. Bahrain remains the opponent Kuwait has faced more than any other associate nation, 15 Twenty20 Internationals so far, of which Kuwait have won 11. The rivalry runs hottest in the Gulf T20I Championship. The International Cricket Council took Kuwait in as an Affiliate Member in 1998, promoted the country to Associate status in 2005, and granted full T20I status in 2019 — a status the team marked on 20 January that year by beating the Maldives by eight wickets.

Mohammed Aslam captains the side and holds the wicket-taking record with more than 85 dismissals, while Usman Patel's unbeaten 111 stands as the highest individual score by a Kuwait batsman.

Kuwait's best-ever position in the ICC's T20I rankings, reached in April 2025, is 23rd.
