Logan Lightning

The two years before that had ended third, twice, in the same division. In the NPL itself the club has yet to win anything.

Beenleigh and Loganholme had both started in 1979 — Beenleigh under the wing of the local Police-Citizens Youth Club — and both had spent three decades climbing and slipping through the Brisbane divisions. Beenleigh took Division 6 in 1982 and worked their way up to two Premier Division 1 titles in 2008 and 2009. Loganholme won Premier Division 2 in the merger year itself, then folded that trophy into the new club along with everything else.

Rick Coghlan was in charge for the promotion season and moved on afterwards, first to Peninsula Power and then to Devonport Strikers. That year the squad also picked up James Coutts from NPL Victoria.

Nobody calls any fixture a derby here, though meetings with Moreton Bay United and Capalaba have been flagged as match of the round often enough to suggest where the edge lies.

The training kit is maroon, which in this part of Australia needs no explanation.
