In 2011 the Khanty-Mansiysk club built one, entering the Junior Hockey League under the name Mamonty Yugra.

The team, known to supporters as Mamonty, sits at the centre of what the league calls Derby No. 2.

Three times Mamonty Yugra has topped the Eastern Conference regular-season table, in 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2023/2024, and twice it has taken bronze in the playoffs, in 2012/2013 and 2018/2019. The Kharlamov Cup, the league's championship, has stayed out of reach.

Kirill Marchenko was developed in Khanty-Mansiysk before Columbus Blue Jackets drafted him into the NHL.

The Ice Palace of Sports, where Mamonty Yugra plays, holds 2,000.
