Munkebo
Club · Denmark · DBU Pokalen
Munkebo Boldklub plays in the lower divisions of Danish football, under the regional Fyns Boldspil-Union, and the fixtures that draw a crowd on Fyn are the cup ties. In the 2024/25 competition the club got past Morud IF 3-1 and drew Næsby Boldklub in the second round. Næsby won 5-0. Munkebo never got going.
The club has been at this since 3 July 1932, when its statutes were signed in a town on the island of Fyn that is still small enough for the football club to be one of the things people know it by. Home matches are at Munkebo Idrætscenter on Mosevangen, a ground with room for 1,000.
What the club has to work with is measured in the sort of sums that do not make transfer pages. DBU Fyn awarded it a grant of 5,000 kroner. It was also nominated for the GF Fyns Ildsjælepris, a prize for the people who keep football running on the island — the volunteers rather than the players.
Under Peter Jakobsen, Munkebo beat Marienlyst 4-0. Three coaches — Mads Ellegaard Jensen among them — are listed for the 2026 season, which for an amateur club on Fyn means the training weeks are covered and someone will be at the ground on a Tuesday evening.
The name that travels furthest belongs to a forward born in Munkebo in 2005. Elias Hansborg-Sørensen now plays for FC Fredericia, and for a club of this size that is the whole argument for the youth setup in one line: a boy from the town, on a professional teamsheet, twenty years after he was born a few streets from the pitch.
