Nidaros Jets

In the 2024 BLNO Qualifying, Jets finished second and Sverresborg third. There is no derby name for it.

That tangled relationship traces back to how Nidaros Jets came to exist at all. Sverresborg Hoops Elite, founded on 10 January 2012, played a single season in the BLNO in 2013/14 and finished seventh before handing its league licence over ahead of 2014/15 — the season that licence became Nidaros Jets. Further back still, the club is spoken of in Trondheim as the successor to Trondheims-Treff. Nothing formal ties the two together, no merger paper or rebrand date, only the sense of a lineage passed down rather than declared.

On court, Jets have kept things modest: a quarter-final appearance in 2016/17 stands as their best run in the BLNO, with no cup or league title to their name. Kahlil McDonald, who played across two spells in 2014/15 and 2016/17, is the name most associated with that era. The team plays out of Hall F at Trondheim Spektrum, in black and white, in front of just over a thousand seats. It only formally joined the Norwegian Basketball Federation in January 2022.
