Nottinghamshire go into the season carrying the weight of a shirt that has produced a County Championship winner as recently as 2025, their seventh title. The limited-overs side, playing under the Notts Outlaws banner, has its own recent pedigree, with a T20 Blast crown in 2020 following the one from 2017.

The county traces itself back further than the 1841 date usually given for its formal foundation: a Nottingham Cricket Club had already been turning out under the Nottinghamshire name since the 1770s, and its first recognised first-class match came in 1835, six years before the club as it now stands took shape.

Stuart Broad spent the whole of his first-class career here and was still central to the dressing room when the 2025 title arrived, closing a circle that had opened with the 2010 championship he also helped win. George Gunn's run of 31,592 first-class runs for the county has stood long enough, and Garfield Sobers left his own mark in a single over in 1968, hitting six sixes off Glamorgan.

Haseeb Hameed leads the side now, having come up through an academy that has also produced Bilal Shafayat and Jack Blatherwick.

For all seven championships, the one-day honours board is thinner: three One-Day Cup wins across four decades, the most recent in 2017.
