Ten County Championship titles arrived in ten consecutive seasons between 1959 and 1968, one of them shared with Surrey in 1962. That run sits inside a longer list of 33 outright or shared titles stretching back to 1890, with the most recent won in 2015.
The club grew out of a meeting of the Match Fund Committee in Sheffield in 1861, called to put county fixtures on an organised footing; the formal foundation followed on 8 January 1863. Its nickname, the White Rose, borrows the county's own emblem, and the fixture that still matters most is the Roses Match against Lancashire.
Limited-overs cricket has been a thinner record by comparison: three One-Day Cup wins, in 1965, 1969 and 2002, and a single Twenty20 Blast title in 2015, with a second final lost to Surrey in 2022.
The short-lived rebrand of the white-ball side as Yorkshire Vikings, in place from 2013, was dropped for the 2025 season, when the club reverted to playing simply as Yorkshire across all formats.
