Paris FC shares a city with Paris Saint-Germain, and that alone would be enough for a rivalry, but the two clubs share a birth certificate too. In 1970 Paris FC merged with Stade Saint-Germain to create PSG, but the arrangement did not last. Paris FC kept the professional licence and the top-flight place, reverted to its own name, while PSG continued as a separate entity. What followed for Paris FC ran the other way — bankruptcy, spells in the amateur leagues, a string of names (Paris 1, Racing Paris, Paris FC 98, Paris FC 2000) before the club settled back on Paris Football Club in 2005.
The club was founded on 1 August 1969. Its one major honour came in 1978, the Ligue 2 title, and for 46 years after that Paris FC did not see Ligue 1 again. That changed in the 2024/2025 season.
Since the 2025/2026 season Paris FC has played its home games at the Stade Jean-Bouin, a 20,000-seat ground a short walk from the Parc des Princes.
