Aaron Philp took over Peninsula Power and, across 2020 to 2024, kept the club top of the NPL Queensland table every single season. Finishing first in the regular season five years running is not a thing most Queensland clubs manage once, yet the grand final kept slipping away — Lions FC and Brisbane City took the trophy in the play-offs those years, leaving Philp's side with the minor premiership and nothing to show for it in the final. In 2018 the frustration broke the other way: Power beat Eastern Suburbs 2:0 to win the Football Queensland Premier League grand final and earned promotion out of the second tier.

The club itself was stitched together in 2000, when Redcliffe City and Margate Soccer Club merged into one outfit representing the Redcliffe peninsula north of Brisbane. It plays out of A.J. Kelly Park in Kippa-Ring, a ground that holds 3,000, in red, white and blue. Before that, in the old Brisbane Premier League, Power won three straight grand finals — 5:1 over Lions FC in 2013, 5:0 over WDSC Wolves in 2014, then 1:0 over Lions FC again in 2015 — the kind of run that put the club on the map well before the near-misses of the NPL years.

Brisbane Strikers and Brisbane City are the sides Power fans care most about beating. Neither meeting carries an official derby name, but City's grand-final win over Power in the NPL era gives the rivalry an edge that goes beyond geography — a genuine top-of-the-table grudge as much as a local one.
