Portland Timbers II

In October 2019 the club's business side was handed to the owners of the Hillsboro Hops, a baseball team, while the football part stayed with the Portland Timbers. The team spent 2015 and 2016 at Merlo Field, moved into Providence Park for three seasons, then based itself at Hillsboro Stadium from 2020 through 2022.

The team was set up on 14 October 2014 to give the first team a place to develop players, and started in USL Pro the following spring. It stayed in that league, later renamed the USL Championship, until 2020. Then came a year with no football at all: the 2021 season was lost to a restructuring, and T2 returned in 2022 in a competition that had not existed before, MLS Next Pro.

Providence Park, the ground it shares with the senior side, holds 25,218 after the 2019 expansion.

No trophy has come out of any of it. Neither the USL years nor the MLS Next Pro seasons have produced silverware, and the one national title in the wider Timbers development story belongs to the amateur U-23 team, not to this one. Jack Cassidy takes charge as head coach for the 2026 season.

What gives the fixture list its edge is geography. The rivalries that matter are the Cascadia ones: Whitecaps FC 2 from Vancouver and Tacoma Defiance from just up the coast.
