Porto BA U20

The undefeated run at the top of Group 3 in April 2026 says something about a side that barely existed two years earlier: Porto-BA's U20s had no history to defend, only one to start writing, and they did it by not losing. Wins away at Grapiuna U20 and matches against Teixeira de Freitas U20, Atlético Alagoinhas U20 and Vitória da Conquista U20 built that record inside the Campeonato Baiano Sub-20, all of it played out at the Estádio Agnaldo Bento Ferreira in Porto Seguro, a ground the club's senior side never uses — that one plays at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador instead.

Porto Seguro had never had a professional football club before this one. The project was announced in December 2023, and the club became official on 2 February 2024, registered with the Bahia Football Federation the same day. It runs as a SAF, a corporate football company, which set it apart from the traditional club structures around it in Bahia from the start.

The blue and white kit was chosen to recall the first contact between the Portuguese and the region's indigenous population, a reference tied directly to the city's own founding story. The nickname Morcegão, the "big bat," comes from the club's mascot, and supporters gather under the banner Avante Porto, organised through the group TAP.

The senior team's opening season ended in the final of the Campeonato Baiano Série B, lost to Colo-Colo, but the runner-up finish was enough to send Porto-BA up to Série A. The U20s have not had a final to lose yet. For now their task is simpler: stay unbeaten through the rest of Group 3 and turn a strong start into a first honour for a team that has none.
