Nine years after taking the field for the first time, Puerto Nuevo went to the Primera C final in 1993/94 with the Apertura already in hand and beat Cañuelas to take the title — the only league championship the club has managed since it was founded on 11 March 1939.
It took until 2021 to get back. Puerto Nuevo won the Primera D that year and settled the promotion series against Centro Español with a goal from Antonio Samaniego, who then scored again in the penalty shoot-out. Centro Español has become the club's fixed point of reference in that part of the pyramid, the two sides meeting with a needle that has no name attached to it in the record books.
There was a stranger episode in 2002, when a partnership agreement with Bolivia's professional football league raised the idea of renaming the club Puerto Nuevo Boliviano. Nothing came of it, and the club kept its name and its identity in Campana, on the northern edge of Buenos Aires province.
Home games are played at the Estadio Rubén Carlos Vallejos, on Viale in the Don Francisco neighbourhood of Campana.
