Bourj Hammoud, an Armenian-majority district on the edge of Beirut, gave Al Riyadi Al Abbasiyah its name and its home ground, and the club has stayed tied to that neighbourhood since forming there in 1989. For most of its existence it sat outside the Lebanese Premier League, working through the lower divisions without a national title to show for it — no Lebanese FA Cup, no championship.

That changed in the 2023–24 season, when Al Riyadi Al Abbasiyah won the Lebanese Second Division and earned promotion to the top flight for 2024–25. For a club with no prior silverware, the jump from the second tier to Lebanon's premier competition marked the most significant turn in its history.

The team plays in blue, and its shirts carried a sky-blue and white design for the 2025–26 campaign. Al Riyadi Al Abbasiyah has never built the kind of public profile that comes with an official website or an active presence on social media, and it remains, on paper and in practice, a club run close to the ground rather than around it.

Matches are played at Bourj Hammoud Stadium, a venue whose capacity is put at 10,000, though some accounts give a smaller figure closer to 8,000. Either way, it is a stadium sized to its district rather than to ambition — a fitting enough home for a club that spent decades in the lower reaches of Lebanese football before finding its way, in 2024, into the company of the country's leading sides.
