«Al-Azraq»
The Lebanese FA Cup of 1999–2000 stayed level after ninety minutes against Safa, and Shabab Al Sahel won it on penalties, 5–4.
The side is based in Haret Hreik, a district of Beirut, and has carried the nickname Al-Azraq, "The Blue," taken from the blue shorts and socks the team wears. It has been playing under that identity since 1966.
Ali Daher spent time in goal on loan from Al Ahed, first from 2018 to 2020 and then again from 2020 to 2023, and it was during that stretch that Shabab Al Sahel took the 2019 Elite Cup. Beyond him, the club has brought in players from further afield than most of its domestic rivals, including the Armenian Zaven Badoyan and the Senegalese Mamadou Drami.
Three times the club has reached an FA Cup final since its 2000 win and come away without the trophy, in 1987–88, 2008–09 and 2012–13, and it has lost two Super Cup finals as well, in 2000 and 2013.
