Sardarapat 2

Armavir's club took its name from a battlefield rather than the city itself: Sardarapat marks the 1918 stand that stopped the Ottoman advance and is remembered across Armenia as the moment the nation held its ground. The football side carrying that name was founded in 2021, giving the region a club built from scratch rather than inherited from an older institution.

It waited four years for its first campaign in senior football, entering the Armenian First League in 2025 and winning it at the first attempt — 24 wins from 30 matches and 76 points, enough to take the title outright. In the Armenian Cup that same season, Sardarapat reached the last 16, beating Mika 2:1 along the way, before an untested step awaited: a debut in the Armenian Premier League still lies ahead.

Officially, the club plays in dark red, beige and dark navy — the red taken from tuff, the volcanic stone used across Armenian building and monuments, including the memorial at Sardarapat itself.

Home games are played at the City Stadium in Armavir, also known as the Hakob Tonoyan Stadium, which holds 3,120 people — a ground scaled to a provincial capital rather than a top flight, and the stage the club will bring into Armenia's highest division for the first time.
