Ernie Smith Reserve sits in Moorebank, in Sydney's south-west.

The team started out in 2012 as Southern Bulls, a joint venture between the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association and the State League club Fairfield Bulls. That partnership broke apart in 2014, and the side kept the Southern Bulls name for two more years before renaming itself SD Raiders in 2016.

Still as Southern Bulls, they won the NSW State League 2 title in 2015. A year after becoming the Raiders, they took the Club Championship in 2016 and moved up to NPL NSW 3. In 2019 they went further still: champions of NPL NSW 3 and Club Championship winners again, earning promotion to NPL NSW 2. The finals either side of that run swung both ways — a 0-2 loss to St George City in the 2018 State League 2 final, then a 3-1 win over Stanmore Hawks a year later.

In the 2025 Australia Cup they beat Rockdale Ilinden on penalties on the way to Round 32, then reached the quarter-final of the 2026 edition after getting past Rochedale Rovers in the last 16. The Waratah Cup has brought them to the semi-final in back-to-back years, meeting Sydney United 58 there in 2025.
