The Sharks play their football in the National Premier Leagues New South Wales. Home is Seymour Shaw Park, a 5,000-capacity ground in Sutherland.
The club dates from 1930. That changed in 1971, when Sutherland won Division One and finished top of the table in the same year — promotion and a premiership at once.
The 1996 Super League title and the pre-season cup the following year were won two divisions from where the club had been in 1978, and it took until 2008 for Sutherland to top the state's first tier again. That season ended without the grand final — the Sharks were beaten in the championship series. They came back the next year and took both the grand final and the Waratah Cup, the second time the club has done the two in one season.
The 2012 Waratah Cup is the most recent trophy in the cabinet. Between the first cup win and that one, the competition changed name and the club changed division more than once, but the ground did not move: every one of those finals was prepared at Seymour Shaw.
Six state championships in 96 years.
