Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium
The pitch sits in Latrikunda Sabiji, tucked into the Kanifing district of Serekunda, and its name gives away what it is before you arrive: a mini-stadium. Five thousand can fit around it, a figure that several club databases agree on even where one outlying source claims double that.
What sets Serrekunda East apart from the district's other grounds is who runs it. There is no federation crest over the gate, no national association badge — the Serrekunda East Sports Organisation, SESDO, keeps the place, and in August 2024 that same body signed off on a new stand, the Democracy Pavilion, built under contract.
The grass is natural, and there is talk locally of laying an artificial surface, though nothing has been confirmed. Several clubs share the pitch as home ground — Steve Biko FC, Team Rhino FC, Gambia Ports Authority, Gambia Armed Forces FC and Bombada FC among them — spread across the GFA League First and Second Divisions. The Serrekunda East Nawettan, the district's own amateur competition, also plays out on this grass.
Beyond league football, the ground has hosted a Gambia Amputee Football Association event marking World Disability Day, and cultural programmes backed by the Chinese embassy.
