The club was formed in December 2012, registered alongside other newly founded Brikama sides such as Team Rhino and Fortune FC. The name itself is older than the club — Bombada is the traditional name for Brikama, the town the team represents.

Home matches are played some distance from Brikama, at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium near Banjul, which holds around 5,000. Promotion arrived quickly: Bombada won the Gambia Division 2 title in 2014–15 and went up to the First Division for the following season. The club reached the semi-final of the 2016 Gambia FF Cup, knocking out the holders, Wallidan, before losing the final 1–0.

That final was lost to Brikama United, the club Bombada shares its home town with. Brikama United took the 2016 cup off them; the rivalry between the two has been known simply as the Brikama derby ever since.
