Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama has become the address most recent match reports give for Fortune, even though older listings still point to Bakau Park, some 30km away. The shift traces the club's own drift: born in the village of Farato on the West Coast, Fortune now shares its matchday ground with West Coast Derby rival Brikama United.

The businessman Assan Ndure founded the club on 7 December 2012, naming it after his company, Fortune Petroleum Company — a lineage the nickname Petroleum Boys keeps alive. Nine years later, in 2021, Fortune won the GFA League First Division, its only top-flight title, and the win sent a village side into continental football: the CAF Champions League 2021/22, where Fortune shocked ES Sétif in Bakau. Coach Jane Joof took the team to that championship.

Momodou Njie, the former Gambia international known as Zico, signed for Fortune in 2021 and later moved into the role of sporting director. Bully Drammeh, a Gambia international, has been at the club since 2018. In 2023, two more former internationals, Ebrima Sonko and Bakary Jatta — who once played for Hamburger SV — bought Fortune's academy. The pipeline it feeds keeps producing: in 2026, three Fortune players, Saihou Sonko, Ali Sowe and Dawda Darboe of Gambia's U20 side, moved to Slovak club FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce-Vráble.

Against Brikama United, the West Coast Derby carries a local edge sharpened by geography — both clubs now play out of the same corner of the country, close enough to Box Bar Mini Stadium that the fixture reads less like a trip across Gambia than a walk across town.
