Guga

Cláudio Rodrigues Gomes carries a nickname that has nothing to do with football: as a boy he was said to resemble the tennis player Gustavo Kuerten, and Guga stuck. He came through Botafogo's youth ranks before moving to Avaí, where he made his senior debut in January 2018 and went on to make 51 appearances, mostly in the second division.

Atlético Mineiro signed him at the end of that year, and the four seasons that followed were the most decorated of his career. Guga made 158 appearances for the club and won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2021, the Copa do Brasil the same year, the Supercopa do Brasil in 2022, and three Campeonato Mineiro titles.

Fluminense brought him in during December 2022, acquiring half of his economic rights as part of a package deal involving other players. The move has paid off in trophies: Guga has since won the Copa Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana and two Campeonato Carioca-related titles, the Campeonato Carioca itself and the Taça Guanabara, with Fluminense. He passed 70 appearances for the club in January 2025.

Guga has not featured for Brazil's senior national team. His numbers going forward have been modest compared with his trophy haul — two goals in over 150 appearances at Atlético Mineiro.
