Romanian Cup 2025/26

The Romanian Handball Cup stands as the primary national knockout competition for the sport in Romania, organized by the Romanian Handball Federation (FRH). It occupies the position immediately below the top-tier domestic league, serving as the second most important domestic title for clubs. The tournament operates on a knockout format that distinguishes it from the league structure.

The competition begins with preliminary rounds that include teams from lower divisions. Top-tier clubs often enter at later stages, such as the Round of 16 or Quarter-Finals, frequently due to commitments in European competitions. The event culminates in a "Final Four" weekend tournament. This stage is hosted either by one of the qualified teams or at a neutral venue. The semi-finals and final are played as single-leg matches.

While the winner of the league secures European qualification, the cup victor does not automatically qualify for European competitions. Instead, the cup winner plays in the Romanian Supercup against the League champion. This distinction separates the cup’s status from the league’s role in determining European spots.

CS Dinamo București is the most successful club in the men's competition, having won the trophy ten times. CSA Steaua București follows with nine titles. In the women's competition, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea dominates with approximately 14–15 titles, while CSM București has claimed eight. The current men's champion is Dinamo București, who secured their recent victory with a 39–27 win over Potaissa Turda.

The competition is distinct from the League, which determines European qualification, and the Supercup, which is a single match between the League and Cup winners.
